The situation

We are facing major challenges and changes where engineers play a crucial role:the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, technological transformation, and geopolitical instability.

This requires engineers with a diversity of perspectives,while at the same time there is a growing shortage of engineers (Bloomberg and World Economic Forum: The Future of Jobs, 2025).

The problem

Women represent the largest untapped potential in the tech sector, and there is a significant shortage of female role models in leadership positions. 

Only 30% of engineering students and 29% of managers in engineering professions in Sweden are women (UKA and Swedish Engineers, 2023).
